It pays to be in a good place

08 brought us a number of things, rising gas prices, lower 401k's, shrinking job forces, decreased sales, etc.. blah blah blah...... Bottom line, who cares? do you have your health?, someone that love's you?, a roof over your head? Hey, I'm not tryin to be George Bailey here, but what can we really do about any of this? NOTHING!!!!! Our parents went through things like the depression, our grandparents went through wars, disease etc. It's a new year and we need to hold our ground. It WILL get better, it always has in the past. History shows that the last two short falls in the market have yielded major returns if you were in the market to get them.
Surround yourself with family, great co-workers, friends, maybe a dog or two and hold your ground, 2009 will be better
Have a Happy New Year (don't worry, you will)

Tracking Santa
Posted:Tuesday, 12/23/2008 at 05:12pm by Brian Middleton
Happy Holidays, make sure you Track Santa on Christmas eve with the site below, some other cools sites as well.
Brian Middleton
Top 6 holiday sites
1 NORAD's Santa Tracker
noradsanta.org
The nice folks at NORAD, the U.S.-Canadian aerospace defense organization, have been tracking Santa since 1955, and nobody does it better. NORAD relies on radar, satellites and high-speed digital "Santa Cams" to provide regular updates on the Jolly One's position.
2 Santa's Corner at Canada Post
canadapost.ca/dec/santa
A lot of sites allow you to e-mail Santa, but this one combines the authenticity of a real government postal service with charming illustrations, simple games and the best build-a-snowman activity we could find.
3 White House Christmas
whitehouse.gov/holiday/2008
A treasure trove of photos and videos. A highlight is the 2001 video, humbly labeled "HGTV Video," that includes footage of former White House executive pastry chef Roland Mesnier crafting and delivering a 150-pound gingerbread replica of the original White House.
4 DLTK's craft site
dltk-holidays.com/xmas
No glue gun required. This homespun site created by Leanne, a mother of two girls who double as her "official craft testers," has gained a following because of a wide selection of simple, age-appropriate crafts.
5 "Santa Taking the A Train" video at metacafe.com
metacafe.com/watch/55623/santa_taking_the_a_train/
This inspired short film about a determined Santa ornament's quest for a chocolate chip cookie combines the best of the Internet (surprise, freshness, technical prowess) with the slow, sweet pace of Christmas at Grandma's.
6 Northpole.com
www.northpole.com
Arguably the most popular Christmas site, Northpole was cutting edge in the late 1990s, but now seems a tad tired, with a shrill color palette and creaky animation. Still, its claim to fame remains: games, stories, e-mail to Santa and elf activities, with minimal ads.

Your Top 10 for 2009
Posted:Tuesday, 12/09/2008 at 03:12pm by Brian Middleton
Resolutions that is, and here they are...
#10 Get Organized
# 9 Help Others
# 8 Learn Something New
# 7 Get out of Debt
# 6 Quit Drinking
# 5 Enjoy Life
# 4 Quit Smoking
# 3 Lose Weight
# 2 Work Out
# 1 Spend more time with Family and Friends
At a glance, if you do 2,4,and 6, some would say you wouldn't be doing 5. Others think that if you 2,8 and 10, you would not have the time for 1. U With me? You could 3 by doing 2, which in the process would probably make you 4 and 6 by default, take a friend for support and you've got 9, end result would be 5, If you manage to do 1-9 you've got #10. ?????????
Sorry, I'll draw a flow chart next time!

You Look Marvelous!!!!!!!
Posted:Saturday, 11/29/2008 at 04:11pm by Brian Middleton
This is the time of year when ya get dressed up to go to those Christmas parties, Family gatherings, etc. People also look in the mirror more during the holidays as they get ready for these gatherings and wind up not liking what they see. Hair loss, body shape, wrinkles, all contribute to depression during the Holidays..............

Your Holiday account is over flowing
Posted:Saturday, 11/22/2008 at 03:11pm by Brian Middleton
Ever been in a Christmas Club? I never have but the idea is that you have a little taken out of each paycheck and come Christmas time?... You have a zillion dollars. My 2008 take on this concept is as follows:
1) The national average for a gallon of gas is now under $2 per gallon. Let's assume that it is still $4 (stay with me).
2) Fill your gas tank like you normally would. Now, for every gallon you put in, take two dollars and stuff it in the back seat of your car. Ok, that might be a bad visual in the Gas Station parking lot, let's say you put it somewhere safe. Are ya with me? Instant savings...

Election Day

Did you Vote? C'mon it's your right!!!!! I went today and I have to say, it took me back to High School. A Lady handed me an over grown scan-tron sheet and I had to fill in the "dots". Also, did anyone see the entry that only had one Choice? Hey for XYZ office, do you vote for A or A?
All in all, a great day, I had no line to wait in, either way, tonight we see history......

You Drove What?
Posted:Tuesday, 10/21/2008 at 06:10pm by Brian Middleton
I don't know why, but I've been on this first car kick for some reason. Maybe because my first ride was a Toyota Celica. OOOOOH, what a magnet uh? The girls used to flock to Muscle Car........Not. Sure I could fix stuff then, but I wanted to turn the key and go. This whole car memory thing is because of Chic, Good Times. It was always on somewhere, I used to listen to it on my "Massive Toyota Sound System". It was so funny, I was really cool listening to Chic out of a 4 watt sound system.
What song did you listen to most in your first car? What was your first car? Shoot me an email and let me know

Sweetest day, got it covered?
Posted:Wednesday, 10/15/2008 at 06:10pm by Brian Middleton
As you know (unless your a guy) sweetest day is this Saturday. It started back in the 20's in Ohio by an ex candy employee (go figure) and is celebrated the third Saturday of October. This may sound cheesy, but I have a really unique gift idea. Instead of buying your "other" a card, make them one. Is that wrong? Think about it for a second, you make a connection with someone because with a standard card, your show that you took the time to pick something up that is just for them. But is it really, who wrote it? can you do better? Sure you can.
Open a word doc at work or at home and "write" your own version of that card. When did you meet that special person, where were you, first kiss etc..... Get the idea? Print this thoughts using .jpg's drawings etc. It's totally custom, and your "other" will totally LOVE it......... And you know what that means.....

What are you worried about?????
Posted:Wednesday, 10/08/2008 at 02:10pm by Brian Middleton
Ok, the cubs didn't do it, nor the Sox, but there is always next year right? If we won it this year, we would have nothing to shoot for. As far as the rest of the day to day worries, forget about'em they will be here when you get back from NYC.
Today in the 3pm hour, we want you to take a shot at a feel good getaway trip to New York along with $1000.00 in spending cash. We will tell you, in the 3pm hour when to start and stop counting the songs in our 100.3 music marathon, be the correct caller with the correct number of songs, and you are qualified. We take care of the rest,
Good luck today

Posted:Tuesday, 09/30/2008 at 06:09pm by Brian Middleton
Thanks to everybody first of all for the calls and emails regarding our new line-up.
Brian Peck Mornings
Megan Reed Middays
Brian Middleton Afternoons
Normally, starting a new Job is rough in the beginning, where do you go, stand, how does this fit in here, meeting new people, remembering names etc...but here, it's a little different.
Imagine going to work and everybody is generally in a good mood, no really, in a good mood. We really have nothing to be upset about, we give away great trips, we play nothing but great, fun music. I had a woman from our sales department come into my studio while I was on the air yesterday and request a song. My coworkers listen too!!!. It's a great place for me to be right now.....
Both Brian Peck and I have discussed how excited we are to be involved in your day. Brian and Megan are the best at what they do, and I'm excited to be a part of it. We invite
you turn us on anytime, Mornings, Middays, Afternoons, feel good favorites on 100.3 Love FM

Sox turn
Posted:Tuesday, 09/23/2008 at 11:09pm by Brian Middleton
When the cubs were down to 2 or three 3 games to glinch, they started losing and it became obvious that they were thinkin to hard about it. I was the same way, every game I was watchin every pitch, questioning every call. Then I decided to back off, pay attention less and just treat it like every other game....... Boom, Division Champs. OK. Second plan, people are talkin about the Sox now, only so many games..... Blah Blah....Let's not think about it, just go about your business and it too will happen to the Sox......

Baseball anyone?
Posted:Tuesday, 09/09/2008 at 07:09pm by Brian Middleton
I get phone calls everyday, "Cubs are goin all the way", "Sox are the best". No matter who you root for, it's seems like a definite north or south side thing. Then I come along, born and raised in the Southern Suburbs and I have to tell ya, I like both. I don't know if I subscribe to the north side, south side theory. If the cubs go all the way, I'll be the first one at Wrigley with my foamy finger on, looking to buy everybody a round. Same goes for the Soxs. I just want us to win SOMETHING... I don't care if we win the Bad Mitten championships in downstate Illinois, let's win something. So for those of you that support only the North or South sides, think about this. Two shots at winning it all supporting your favorite Chicago team is better than one.
Now it's a numbers game
Go..... CHICAGO

Your 401K
Posted:Friday, 08/29/2008 at 06:08pm by Brian Middleton
If you have a 401 k is it really working for you? Oh, your like the rest of us and don't really know what your funds do, where your money is etc.... you just hope for the best? Solution, go on-line like I did and search a 401k advice company. I don't want to sound biased by telling you which one to use. But I will say, for a very small monthly fee, there are companys that will look at your current 401k funds, and adjust according to your risk tolerance. No more guessing, is this fund any good? yes, no...... google 401k managers

Olympic replays...
Posted:Wednesday, 08/20/2008 at 11:08pm by Brian Middleton
Watching the Olympics replay the other night made feel Great. Our gymnastics team just wiped out the other Countries. It just makes ya proud. Track and field, we were also solid, but what happened to LoLo. Wow, suppose to win it hands down, she blew it the next to last hurdle. I felt pretty bad for her, since she was a kid she trained, in and out of different foster homes. she's had a tough life. But while warming up she looked so confident, so ready to do it. Her mom and sister in the stands, and then, nothin.... Afterward, when interviewed by the press, she was nothin but class. Way to go LoLo !!!!!!! your a champion.

WE ALL DO IT!
Posted:Saturday, 08/09/2008 at 08:08pm by Brian Middleton
Sunday afternoon, I pull up to the pump after checking the price across the street (you do it too) I make a selection, turn on the pump, and let the wheels spin at record speed, like some out of control slot machine. 10 bucks, 20 bucks, 30, 40, 50, wow what do you drive? Everyday we go through the same routine, watching the pump tick away, the least they could do is give me a chance to win something, If I stop on all 3's, a stuffed animal or a free hotdog.... Something, anything.
100.3 qualifies you MONDAY in the 9A 2P and 5P hours for a years worth of FREE GAS. Yup, just like that, oh everyone that qualifies also gets a 100 gas card instantly. Get in your car and go anywhere you want, it may be on us. FREE GAS MONDAY from

Oh whatta night!!!!
Posted:Monday, 08/04/2008 at 11:08pm by Brian Middleton
So, I'm driving to work late Monday afternoon and I hear Brian Peck talk about some rain coming tonight and I think to myself, "we could use some ". As you ride the elevator up to our studios, you can't help but think about how cool storms look from this perspective. No sooner do I get on the air, and here comes the rain. I mean BIG storms, quick BIG storms. Weather alert radios were going off in my studio in triplicate. As we continued to notify our listeners about warnings and watches, I noticed just how big this storm really was on radar. From Gurnee to the southern tip of Will County. WOW, Huge, and a Tornado Warning for Downtown? come on..... Very strange night. I was up here on the 27th floor watching the other buildings windows move in the wind and horizontal rain. I would just look ahead in my studio and turn up kool and the gang to take my mind off it. Feel good favorites can come in handy....
