New Year's Resolutions
Posted:Monday, 12/29/2008 at 04:12pm by Brian Peck
Well, it's that time of year to start thinking of what your New Year's resolutions will be. I always like to write mine down on paper and then have a game plan on how to reach my goals. It truly is easy to make resolutions, but the hard part is sticking to the plan.

One of my resolutions this past year was not to worry as much about things. Boy, it sure was a tough year to pull that one off! I think I will add that one to this year's list and try again.

I wish you much good luck on your resolutions and I truly hope that 2009 will be your best year ever!

What's Your Favorite Gift?
Posted:Tuesday, 12/02/2008 at 11:12am by Brian Peck
Video games are topping the chart this year as the number one gift purchased. In fact, their sales have increased by 30%. I am not into the video games. I am a gift card person. I like buying exactly what I want. That being said (and here comes the cheap plug) go to our website and click on Half Price Deals. There are some good ones and great bargins to choose from.

Happy shopping!

Turkey prep
Posted:Monday, 11/24/2008 at 11:11am by Brian Peck
I am so glad I don't have to cook on Thanksgiving. We go to Julie's Aunt's house every year. We offer to cook something, but that usually scares everyone. Julie and I are not known for our domestic abilities.

Anyway, if you are cooking, you can call the very popular Butterball hotline at (800) 288-8372. And this year you can view their webcasts at www.butterball.com for help.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Vote early, vote now!
Posted:Wednesday, 10/15/2008 at 06:10am by Brian Peck
What a great idea to have more than one day to vote. If you have already made up your mind who you are supporting, you can vote now. Check our website for locations under the "community" tab.

Personally speaking, while I appreciate the compassion people have for their candidate, it is no reason to have such anger for the other. I think we have two people who truly love their country and want to do what is best. Of course, you don't have to agree, but you don't have to shun that person for their beliefs either.

Mornings!
Posted:Thursday, 10/02/2008 at 05:10am by Brian Peck
It is such a thrill to be a part of your morning routine. I have to admit that getting used to waking so early will take some adjustment, but it's great to start the day with you. I will do everything I can to give you what you need to get your morning moving and Megan Reed and Brian Middleton will take it the rest of the day.

Thank you so much for listening and I look forward to speaking with you every morning.

How about that Carlos Zambrano!
Posted:Monday, 09/15/2008 at 08:09am by Brian Peck
I have watched Cubs games for years and years hoping to see it and some have come close, but Carlos Zambrano finally did it! A no-hitter after taking twelve games off to rest the shoulder and he does it at a neutral park.

Way to go Carlos!!!

Go Bears!
Posted:Monday, 09/08/2008 at 04:09pm by Brian Peck
The Bears beating the Colts was a nice surprise, especially when the Cubs blew a victory on the same day. I just hope Lou and company can get it back together and the Bears continue the way they looked on Sunday night!

Go Bears!
Go Cubs!
Go Sox!

There you go, equal time for one and all.

Still plenty of summer left!
Posted:Thursday, 08/07/2008 at 01:08pm by Brian Peck
I get uneasy when I see the "back to school" sales on tv. I am certainly not ready to call summer over! There is still so many cool things left to do, so many festivals and couple of more movie in the parks around the city.

Make sure you check out the "Summer Guide" to see what is happening around you.

Yes, Tom Cruise has been approached to reprise his role as Maverick in a sequel to "Top Gun". In this movie Maverick is the Top Gun instructor and has to deal with a cocky female pilot. Any interest in this one???

The Dark Knight
Posted:Thursday, 07/10/2008 at 10:07am by Brian Peck
I am so anticipating seeing "The Dark Knight" not only because of really good early reviews, but also because of much of it being filmed here. It is very sad to think though that it's Heath Ledger's last film. There is already Oscar talk for his performance.

Check out the trailor.

Have you see "Kung Fu Panda"
Posted:Thursday, 06/12/2008 at 04:06pm by Brian Peck
I took my six year old to "Kung Fu Panda" and we enjoyed it thoroughly. It is the perfect kid movie. First of all, it's only 90 minutes long, the perfect length movie for a kid. Secondly, as an adult, I enjoyed it too. It was really funny and Jack Black did a great job voicing the main character.

If you haven't seen it, check it out and enjoy!

We're in the final four!
Posted:Wednesday, 06/04/2008 at 05:06pm by Brian Peck
Chicago is a finalist for the 2016 Summer Olympics! This sets the stage for a high profile bidding contest between candidates from the United States, Europe and Asia. Also making the short IOC list were Madrid, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro.

How cool would be it for our city to get the Olympics. What are your thoughts?

15 Million Dollar twins!
Posted:Tuesday, 06/03/2008 at 12:06pm by Brian Peck
There is a bidding war going on now for first pictures of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's twins. It is rumored they will fetch somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 million dollars! That will buy a lot of diapers.

My wife and I are expecting our new son in October. I wonder if Robert Feder from the Sun Times would pay anything for first pics...okay, maybe he'll buy me lunch.

I hope they are right.

It's David and David!
Posted:Wednesday, 05/14/2008 at 09:05pm by Brian Peck
America got it right this year with David Archuleta and David Cook in the American Idol final. My prediction is that David will win it all. Okay, I couldn't resist that one. Seriously, I don't think it matters who wins next week. Both David's will have careers in music. Cook will have more commercial success.

We'll see what happens next week, but all three finalist are winners!
