Chicago @40: The Band and Its City
The Chicago History Museum presents a special exhibit: 'Chicago @40: The Band and Its City.' Chicago is one of the most successful U.S. pop/rock and roll bands of all time. To honor their 40th anniversary, museum curators teamed up with the band to create this commemorative installation. The display includes objects and materials drawn from the band's archive, recording their remarkable history. This exhibit runs until December 7. The Chicago History Museum is located at 1601 N. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings and low-cost treatment for uninsured women over 35, regardless of income. Kids Unlimited Mentoring Project
Kids Unlimited is a school-based mentoring program that serves 4th through 6th grade elementary students at Fiske and Wadsworth Elementary Schools in the Woodlawn Community. If you would like to be a mentor and can commit to meet with your mentee for one hour per week at the mentee's school and communicate through the project's computer program, e-mentoring, once a week for one year, contact the Project Coordinator, Carrie Bergen at 312-447-4365 or cbergen@sga-youth.org.

Poets Invited to Compete in Prairie Poetry Contest
The College of Dupage's Writers Read Series is accepting submissions of original, unpublished work for the Prairie Poetry Award Contest now through March 1. Ten winners will be chosen to participate in a 90-minute workshop Wednesday, April 29, with Curtis Crisler, author of 'Tough Boys Sonatas.' There is something you can do for our World War II veterans: help them get to Washington, DC for one day, to visit the memorial erected in their honor. Honor Flight Chicago is flying groups of veterans to DC to see the monument and spend some time there. Donations and volunteers are needed to continue this project. Next Theatre Company Presents 'Well'
Next Theatre Company in Evanston presents the Chicago area Premiere of Tony Nominee Lisa Kron's play, 'Well.' AIDS Foundation World of Chocolate Event

Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis
The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis returns to Chicago. Imagine the sound of jingle bells on the streets of downtown Chicago as runners tie bells to their shoelaces, don festive costumes and join in support of the Arthritis Foundation's mission to prevent, control and cure arthritis and related diseases. The festivities begin on Sunday, December 7, at the Merchandise Mart for a 5K Run and Walk. Step-off is at 8am with a Kids' Dash at 9:30am. Jingle bells for your showlaces and long-sleeve performance t-shirts are available for all who register. Registration is $30 online and $35 day-of, and seniors (65+) can register for $25. American Lung Association Climb Oakbrook Terrace
The American Lung Association is proud to host Climb Oakbrook Terrace, a vertical climb consisting of 31 floors, 62 flights of stairs and 680 steps up one of two fully ventilated stairwells at the Oakbrook Terrace Tower. This year's climb will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2009. Climb Oakbrook Terrace features competitive and non-competitive climb categories, but all participants will be provided a ChampionChip timing chip and all climbers will receive a Climb Oakbrook Terrace technical t-shirt at event check-in.
